About Us

Arts a la Carte, a non-profit dance/movement arts co-operative, provides Iowa City with an alternative studio space created by artists, featuring dance, movement arts, theater and visual arts exhibitions.

Locally and nationally known members offer performances, events and classes in a variety of disciplines. Dance includes Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Near/Middle Eastern, Funk Movement, Tap, Ballroom and Latin. Other movement arts include Theater, Pilates, Yoga and Movement Classes.

Arts a la Carte welcomes the general public to participate in dance and movement arts techniques taught at various levels of expertise in a nurturing, creative atmosphere.

Vision Statement

To foster all forms of the movement arts by offering a venue for teaching, creating, and sharing movement work(s) so that the community grows in its understanding of and participation in physical/artistic expression.

Our Mission

To create and sustain:

1. a movement space for classes, rehearsals and performances
2. studio space for other artists and
3. an affordable meeting space for artists/movers to share and collaborate.
