Raquy and the Cavemen
Drum Workshop and Dance Party


 Join Raquy and the Cavemen for a fun-filled evening of drumming lessons, music, and dancing at Arts a la Carte on July 17, 2007.  The band offers progressive Middle Eastern music, heavy on the drumming. 

The evening includes:
6:00 - 7:00 pm Drumming workshop with Raquy.  Bring your own drum!
7:00 - 8:00 pm Dance party, featuring performances by Shira of Iowas City, Melilah of Davenport, and other Eastern Iowa dancers.  It will include open floor time so everyone can get up and dance.

CLASSE: Beginning Belly Dance
Tuesdays 6:00 - 7:00 pm, September 11 through October 23
Price: $75 for the entire 7-week session, or $12.50 per class drop-in
No previous dance experience required, both men and women are welcom.

Discover a popular dance form from the Near East that has been embraced by people from all over the world. In this class, you'll learn some basic beginner moves and receive guidance in assembling them into a dance.  You'll be introduced to Middle Eastern music, and learn a bit about how this dance form fits into the culture.
