Shira is known worldwide for her expertise in the dance arts of the Middle East and North Africa, with a particular emphasis on Egyptian dance.  She is sought after internationally as a workshop teacher and lecturer, and was selected to serve as the keynote speaker for the 2008 Arabic Arts Festival in Liverpool, England. She has traveled to Egypt seven times and Turkey three times for cultural research and continuing education in the dance.  Her web site receives over half a million page views per month from around the world.
